Week 8 : Warm and Cozy
Siding and Insulation Completed
Woot Woot! He's looking good. ^-^
It's been about a week since our inspector came out, so we decided to go and see if the things he told us about were replaced/fixed. As we did our small walk through on our we noticed that 99% of the problems weren't. This worries us because most of the stuff on the list needs to be fixed prior to drywall being put up. One thing that they claimed to fix, was actually just taped and cemented. It's like placing a band aid on a broken leg. That won't fix it, it just covers it.
We also happened to notice that they didn't pass the city's inspection, which was due to the siding not being completed. But hey, they finished it, and passed! So, they moved on to insulation. Which they also managed to complete! Yay! The only parts that weren't framed or insulated was the unfinished part of the basement and the rough in for the bathroom. Those things sadly come last. Boo.
But anyways, here are some photos!!

Hi! I just found your blog! Love it! We are a few steps behind you, building a Florence. Outfabulousflorence.blogspot.com We are also considering a private inspector to review the home before the drywall goes up. Thank you for sharing the issues that were found. Gives us something to look closer at as well. Hopefully they fix your issues correctly. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Have you started blogging? I think it's great for the future when you want to look back at the timelines.
ReplyDeleteI really do suggest having your own personal home inspector come out. It's good to have someone look out for you, who works for you.
I hope everything goes well with your build! It's exciting and nerve wrecking isn't it? Haha.
Good luck!
Yes! My blog is ourfabulousflorence.blogspot.com I agree it is going to be great to look back and see how far we have come along! We will be sure to get an inspector as well. Especially for a piece of mind. And thank you! Yes very nerve wrecking but knock on wood the construction aspect has been the least stressful for us so far. We had some issues in the beginning but now we are finally enjoying the process. :)
